James Watts

Welcome to the double rifles section of magazine articles! Years ago, in the mid-1990s I interviewed James Watts for a story on his life. His experiences were a thrill to listen to as was his invention of the .450 Watts cartridge. At his passing his widow, Bea, gave me a box of articles he had saved over the years. Mostly from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, they cover material that is unknown to today's double rifle men. The articles were cut or torn from the magazines and I photocopied them for my personal files. They are scanned here in a low resolution for your reading ease. I believe the copyright has expired and some of the authors have passed away. If I am in error, I hope any transgressions can be forgiven as I am not selling anything here--just making available valuable information to others and to keep them from being lost to time. I will not add any articles of current authors such as the many excellent articles in the Double Gun Journal and other publications. Over time I expect to have 100-150 vintage article on double rifles in the four categories here. I will also list them in bibliography format to give proper credit to the author and publication. It just takes time. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labor on this site. Cal.
